Mission:

        The mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and needs of the scholar community. Library commits to ensure the preservation of library collection and make the resources accesible for the long time.

Campus Library

• This campus is famous for the collection, preservation, cataloguing, editing of rare Sanskrit manuscripts.
• The library which is an important part of this campus was started from 1943 by Mahamahopadhyay Dr. Sir Ganganath Jha's collection of rare books related to oriental studies, which has been established as a famous library for the collection of rare books, while achieving prosperity from time to time. In addition to Dr. Sir Ganganath Jha's rare book collections, Prof. Kshetresh Chandra Chattopadhyay, Prof. Saraswati Prasad Chaturvedi, Prof. Mahavir Prasad Lakheda's rare book collection is also exists in our Library.
• This library is used not only by the scholars and research scholars of the campus, but also it has been used from time to time by the eminent scholars of the country and abroad. Presently the campus library has 59,521 books which also includes the Kshetresh Chandra Chattopadhyay collection.Shri Kshetresh Chandra Chattopadhyay collection consists of 5,331 books which are kept separately in the library.
• The campus library has 1222 Ph.D. theses. Which also include theses of more than 300 on-campus research scholars.
• Important journals and periodicals published from India and abroad are regularly taken in the campus library.

Rules

• Only registered members are allowed to use the library.
• Library remains open from 09:30am to 6.00pm during the weekdays. All members can borrow the books on all working day.
• All registered members can be issued 15 books for 1 month. More books can be issued only on special permission of the Director.
• There is no any overdue fine for academic members upto 1 month. Grace period of another 15 days is also given, but if not renewed in time then fine Rs. 1/- per day after 45 days.
• All non-academic members can be issued maximum 5 books at a time for the period of 15 days. More books can be issued only on special permission of the Director.
• There is no any overdue fine for the non-academic members upto 15 days from the due date, but if not renewed in time then fine Rs. 1/- per day.
• Periodicals, reference books and rare books are issued except in special cases permitted by the Director.
• Two copies of same book will not be issued to any member.
• The library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
• No part of reading material shall be taken out from library. Photocopy of the library book is not allowed without prior permission of the Director.
• The damaged book should be replaced by a new book or triple of the cost mentioned in the accession register, and ten times cost should be charged in case of rare books, if any.
• User must enter his/her name, place, purpose and time etc. in the relevant register at the entrance of the library.
